Instructions
- Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, mix melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until well blended.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Fold in the butterscotch chips and chopped nuts (if using) gently until evenly distributed.
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
- Place in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Once baked, remove from the oven and allow to cool in the pan for about 15-20 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- While the cake cools, you can prepare a butterscotch drizzle or frosting to enhance it further.
