This creamy tomato basil penne is a delightful dish that combines the richness of heavy cream with the fresh flavors of basil and parmesan cheese.


Ingredients

  • 8 ounces uncooked penne pasta
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
  • ¾ cup heavy cream
  • ¼ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ¼ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese (plus extra for serving)
  • ½ cup fresh basil (roughly chopped)
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • ½ teaspoon Pepper

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the penne until al dente according to the package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. While the pasta cooks, melt the butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, stirring continuously.
  3. Stir in the tomato sauce, heavy cream, and Italian seasoning. Mix well until the sauce is smooth.
  4. Let it gently simmer for about 5 minutes, or until it thickens to your desired consistency. Season with the salt and pepper.
  5. Stir in the Parmesan cheese until it melts into the sauce. Add the cooked pasta and toss until evenly coated. Stir in the fresh basil.
  6. Serve immediately, topped with additional Parmesan. Garnish with more fresh basil. Enjoy!
